Studies

Iron & women's specific needs

Women of reproductive age have significantly higher iron needs than men, particularly due to menstrual losses. A review published in the European Journal of Sport Science (2019) confirmed that iron deficiency, even subclinical, is associated with increased fatigue, reduced physical performance and impaired oxygen transport. This formula provides 28 mg of ferrous fumarate per capsule (200% NRV), an organic form that is well tolerated and well absorbed.

Sim M et al. (2019). Iron considerations for the athlete. Eur J Sport Sci. 19(4):450-461.

Folic acid & normal cell division

Folic acid plays a central role in DNA synthesis and cell division. A review published in Nutrients (2019) noted that folic acid is essential for normal blood formation and for maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. Inadequate intake is associated with an increased risk of neural tube defects. This formula provides 400 µg of folic acid per capsule (200% NRV).

Greenberg JA et al. (2011). Folic Acid supplementation and pregnancy. Rev Obstet Gynecol. 4(2):52-59.

Vitamin D3 & bone health

Women have an increased risk of bone loss, particularly from perimenopause onwards. A meta-analysis published in Osteoporosis International (2005) showed that vitamin D3 supplementation significantly reduced the risk of non-vertebral fractures in women. Vitamin D3 contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and to normal muscle function, two parameters essential to long-term health for active women.

Bischoff-Ferrari HA et al. (2005). Fracture prevention with vitamin D supplementation. JAMA. 293(18):2257-2264.

Biotin & hair

Biotin is an essential cofactor in several carboxylases involved in the metabolism of fatty acids and amino acids needed for keratin structure, the main constituent of hair. A review published in Skin Appendage Disorders (2017) summarised the available data on the role of biotin in hair health. This formula provides 150 µg of biotin per capsule (300% NRV).

Patel DP et al. (2017). A Review of the Use of Biotin for Hair Loss. Skin Appendage Disord. 3(3):166-169.

Selenium & oxidative stress

Selenium is an essential component of glutathione peroxidase, one of the body's main antioxidant enzymes. A review published in The Lancet (2012) demonstrated the importance of selenium status for the protection of cells from oxidative stress, with direct implications for immunity and cellular longevity. This formula provides 100 µg per capsule (181% NRV).

Frequently asked questions

Your health and results matter to us. This FAQ section gathers the key questions our customers ask about QNT products — from how to use them to understanding their benefits, ingredients, and quality standards — so you always know exactly what you’re buying and how it supports your goals.

Why is QNT Women's Multivitamin specifically designed for women?

Women have nutritional needs distinct from men. This formula provides 28 mg of iron per capsule (200% NRV), a dosage suited to women's needs related to menstrual losses. Folic acid is present at 400 µg (200% NRV), particularly important for normal cell division. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, and selenium to the maintenance of normal hair and nails. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, and zinc to normal fertility and reproduction. Wild yam (Dioscorea villosa) is a botanical ingredient with a long-standing tradition of use in women's herbal preparations.

When should you take a women's multivitamin: morning or midday?

Take 1 capsule with the midday meal and a large glass of water. Taking with a meal improves the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D3 and E, which need dietary fats to be properly absorbed. Also avoid taking your capsule at the same time as coffee or tea, as tannins can reduce iron absorption.

Is QNT Women's Multivitamin vegan?

Yes. The capsule shell is made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), a plant-based alternative to gelatine. All ingredients are compatible with a vegan diet, including vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol of vegan origin). The formula contains no binders, coatings or excipients of animal origin.

Can you take a women's multivitamin during pregnancy?

This product provides 1,200 µg of retinol (Vitamin A) per daily dose (150% NRV). Regular consumption of supplements providing significant amounts of vitamin A can be harmful during pregnancy. It also contains wild yam, the use of which during pregnancy is not recommended without medical advice. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you must consult your doctor before using this product.

Is 1,200 µg of vitamin A safe for women?

For healthy non-pregnant adult women, 1,200 µg of retinol a day is well below the tolerable upper intake level of 3,000 µg/day set by EFSA. However, this dose is NOT recommended during pregnancy or for women planning to become pregnant: regular consumption of high-dose retinol is associated with a risk to the foetus. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Does QNT Women's Multivitamin contain allergens?

This product contains corn oil (Zea mays) and sucrose (sugar). It is manufactured in a facility that may handle other allergens. It does not contain gluten, lactose, soy or shellfish as intentional ingredients. Check the full ingredient list in case of known allergy or intolerance.

Why does QNT Women's Multivitamin contain wild yam (Dioscorea villosa)?

The wild yam tuber extract (Dioscorea villosa) is a botanical ingredient with a long-standing tradition of use in herbal preparations, particularly in women's formulas. In accordance with EU Regulation 1924/2006, no specific health claim is made about it. It is included as a complementary botanical component of the formula. Not recommended for continuous use beyond 3 consecutive months without a break.

Are QNT products subject to quality controls?
